Our Website Got Trashed. Twice.

So, back in June, I got a message from Ionos (…who host this site, until the hosting contract next expires…)saying that some of the themes in my WordPress installation were a security risk. They weren’t. I keep an eye on them.

Ionos then decided to rewrite all URLs for this site to redirect back to the home page. When I say all URLs, this helpfully included the admin URL. In other words, Ionos decided it didn’t like my site, broke my site then refused to let me fix my site.

Getting nowhere, I created a new WordPress installation. Ionos then decided to break that installation while I was on vacation. How and why is a mystery. All I know is that a vanilla WordPress site was there one day and gone the next. Ionos support restored the site but somehow managed to restore the old, trashed site and mangled it so that I could not even update it as admin.

So, here we are on another brand new WordPress installation. Let’s see how long this one lasts.

I’m trying to restore the posts about radiation detectors but it may take a while…
